Has your mother tried to negotiate to reduce the amount that she owes? Has she had the bills audited? I ran into the same situation and had over $100,000 in bills. We used a company called GorillaBill.com to check the bills and reduce the amount that we had to pay. It saved us about 20% - which was very helpful.
